This article explains two ways to use Skype on your Chromebook. One way is to download the Skype app from the Google Play Store, but not all Chromebooks support Google Play. The other method is to visit web.skype.com in the Chrome browser.
Install Skype on a Chromebook
Most new Chromebooks run apps found in the Google Play Store, which open up a variety of features previously unavailable on Chrome OS. One popular app is Skype, which lets you communicate online via voice, video, and text chat.
To find out if your Chromebook model supports Google Play apps, open the Settings app. If you scroll through the interface and can’t find a section for Google Play Store, your device can’t install the Skype app. If you can find this section, check to see if the service is enabled.
To install Skype via the app, open the link in the Google Play Store and install the app as usual.
