With Act Two coming to a close soon, VALORANT Patch 9.08 is poised to usher in Act Three of Episode Nine, the final competitive season of the year. The patch promises several exciting meta updates and new content for the tactical shooter.
Updates to Gekko and map pools coming in Patch 9.08
Patch 9.08 goes live on October 23rd and updates Gekko’s kit, revamps the Los Angeles-based Sunset map, introduces a new Team Deathmatch map, and more. In addition to disabling the ranked queue for a few hours, Riot Games will perform scheduled server maintenance in preparation for the patch drop. You will be able to download the patch once the maintenance is complete.

In December 2023, Patch 7.12 buffed Gekko by reducing his globule pickup time, significantly cementing his place in the initiator meta. But with “little to no downside” for the Angeleno, Riot acknowledges that Gekko has had it too easy, and is addressing the imbalance in Patch 9.08. But don’t worry, Gekko mains. Our loveable Wingman and Dizzy have both received buffs, so cheer up.
