VALORANT players are fed up with the AFK penalty system and agree that Riot Games isn’t doing enough to address the issue. Some have suggested that the developer increase the penalty to ranks, while others have shared unique ways to make matches more balanced.
Solving fine systems
In a Reddit thread on April 17, players discussed ways to fix VALORANT's AFK detection system. There are some good ideas in the mix, with a few suggesting that Riot should punish AFK players by capping the RR they get from each win.
"If you are AFK for more than a round, you should lose double the RR if your team loses and get no RR if your team wins. I hope this will discourage AFKers though, because timeouts don't seem to work," the opening post reads.
Several players also reported playing 4v5 matches because the system was misidentifying AFK players. If you buy a weapon, move in the first round, and then remain AFK the rest of the time, you will not be marked as AFK. This will prevent you from requesting a remake, forcing you to play the entire match or initiate a surrender vote.
