The answer to the clue "Value that a function approaches, in mathematics" is "LIMIT". In mathematics, specifically calculus, a limit describes how a number behaves near a specific point, rather than exactly at that point. Anyone who has studied mathematics at an advanced level probably knew this by heart; everyone else probably needed help.
Unless you're a math major, need it for work, or happen to know everything from your Calculus class, this clue is downright difficult. It wasn't until I had solved the entire puzzle that I realized the answer, so I'd give it a four out of five for difficulty.
