Medieval RPG Wartales drops you into a hostile landscape with little help to guide you. It has an open-world real-time map, but the battles are small, tactical, and turn-based. Each of your squad members can level up and learn combat skills, as well as a crafting profession, but can also face permadeath at every turn. At the start of the game, you have five choices for starting companions and a few resource choices to make. We recommend avoiding the Bandits option for your first playthrough (stolen items can make for a rough start). Additionally, go for your ideal turn-based setup. Each class is very flexible as you level up, and you can add more companions to your party as you progress, so don't feel too limited.
