WD My Passport 2TB! Unboxing, Installation Guide, Full Review
When considering a portable storage drive, size matters. Western Digital is known for giving you a lot of bang for your buck, capacity-wise. We tested the 1TB My Passport to see if it’s still the best storage buy with its feature-packed, attractive price tag, or if the market has moved on.
The WD My Passport weighs in at just 6 ounces and measures 4.33 by 3.21 inches (HW), meaning you can easily stash it in a small backpack pocket, though it obviously won’t fit in your jeans. It’s still a small device by hard drive standards, especially when you consider its terabytes of storage capacity. Not only is it a handy device for backing up the legions of photos and videos on your phone or laptop’s hard drive, it’s also the perfect companion to a modern gaming console if you want to bolster the internal storage of a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
The My Passport looks the part, too, with a glossy top and a textured bottom. It’s a professional design that Western Digital has adopted across its product line. It stands out without being too flashy. With a three-year limited warranty, you can be pretty liberal with how you treat this drive, but it’s still not rugged enough to survive water damage, excessive dust, or a good drop. The WD My Passport also has four small handles on the bottom that you can use to secure it to your desk or surface in case it becomes a static drive instead of a portable one.
