The Regulation H rules for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles have just been announced, and VGC players were pleasantly surprised to hear what to expect in the metagame.
How One Move Fixed the Worst Legendary Pokémon (Zamazenta)
From September 1st to January 5th, 2025, Regulation H will take over Scarlet and Violet Ranked Battles, removing all Legendary and Paradox Pokémon. This will undoubtedly cause a massive shift in the meta, as many Legendary and Paradox 'mons dominate Regulation G. For example, Urshifu, Calyrex, Miraidon, Raging Bolt, and Iron Hands are some of the most popular 'mons at the moment, and they will all be banned once Regulation H begins.
Of course, this opens the door for other powerful Pokémon to emerge as the next meta threats, and VGC players couldn't be more excited. Many, including former World Champion Wolfe Glick, are celebrating some much-needed time away from Urshifu, one of the most broken 'mons in the game. And with the legendary bear out of the picture, everyone's eyes are on Palafin, who went MIA in VGC about a year ago.
Like Rapid Strike Urshifu, Palafin is a powerful Water-type physical attacker, so he'll serve as a good replacement in the popular Fire/Grass/Water core with Incineroar and Rillaboom. Additionally, it'd be great to see top players like Wolfe Glick, Justin Tang, Paul Chua, and Gavin Michaels return with the adorable dolphin hero who helped them win big events in the previous Scarlet and Violet era. "We're back," Tang said, with a gif of Palafin in his Hero form.
