Counter-Strike 2 received a major update on April 25, which implemented Dust 2 into the competitive map pool, replacing Overpass. While many players hated the decision, the latest data shows that the map is immensely popular in Premier mode.

After the update went live, many players immediately jumped into the game in Dust2. As of May 13, the map was the most played of the seven in the active pool, according to data from Leetify. It had a play rate of 35 percent, exactly double the second-place Mirage, which had 17.5 percent.
When Dust 2 returned to the CS2 map pool, a large part of the community was outraged. They claimed that it didn’t undergo as many graphical changes as Overpass did with the launch of CS2. More importantly, they felt that the latter was much more tactically demanding, and when you compare the two side by side, it’s hard to disagree.
Nevertheless, if Leetify’s data is correct, Valve made the right decision, as many players seem to like it. The fact that a third of them play Dust 2 is admirable. The map is probably the most iconic in Counter-Strike history, so its popularity is higher than expected.
