Google announced a new rewards program in the US earlier this week, called Google Play Points. The program first debuted in Japan in September 2018, and was then rolled out to South Korea earlier this year in April, reaching millions of people, Google claims.

Google Play Points allow users to earn rewards for almost everything they do in the Google Play Store. Points can be earned by making purchases in the Google Play Store. These purchases can be anything from an in-app item, subscriptions, books, movies, and more. Users also earn Play Points by downloading free apps and games with weekly events to boost their earnings.

Users can then redeem these Play Points for special in-app items (like characters, gems, and more), or rent a movie or audiobook. Play Points can also be used toward your Google Play Credit.

Google Play Points come in four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each tier gives you better benefits as you move up the ladder.
