While most of us try to avoid a match in Overwatch 2 as much as possible, there comes a time when you have no other choice. A few months ago, while queuing late at night to increase my Overwatch 2 rank, I constantly ran into a toxic player who would rage at the smallest of triggers. Matching with this player on my team for the third time was too much for me, so I eventually left the match and accepted my punishment.
Leaving a competitive Overwatch 2 match will in most cases result in a 15-minute penalty. However, this penalty will gradually increase if you continue to leave matches. The following list contains all the penalties you can receive depending on how many games you leave from your most recent matches:
Unranked Overwatch 2 modes may be less severe overall, but leaving is still punished as it disrupts the gaming experience of the other players in your matches. Leaving an unranked Overwatch 2 mode will often result in a warning, but this penalty will also increase depending on how many matches you leave in your last 20 games.
