Tis the season of new device launches from major manufacturers, and frankly, there are some super exciting software updates to look forward to as well. For Google lovers and loyalists, it’s only a matter of hours (as we write this) before the tech giant unveils the new Pixels and a few other devices at their highly anticipated fall event. As a nice, unexpected bonus, they also have the new Chromecast up their sleeve for us to see and review at the upcoming event.
Google TV and Chromecast features you're not using (but should)
The latest version of Chromecast runs on Google TV, software that’s largely an upgrade over the traditional Android TV interface you’re likely used to on your current streaming devices (like Amazon and Roku).
Google has essentially reworked the original Android TV software to create a new, cleaner user interface. Instead of requiring you to set your streaming service preferences yourself, Google does it for you, filtering your shows and organizing them into a neat grid, regardless of which streaming service they belong to.
If you've already been able to pick up your Chromecast at Home Depot, you're familiar with Google TV's new grid system.
