Disney Plus is combating some of its outdated content with racial stereotypes by making certain films viewable only by a parent.

The streaming platform’s children’s profiles will no longer show films with a warning message about racism. Some of these films include Peter Pan, The Aristocats, Lady and the Tramp and Dumbo, which require parental permission to watch. According to experts, this is a good move by Disney to make content with racial stereotypes less accessible to watch.
"Disney is finally doing something [it] should have done years ago: admitting racial bias and stereotyping," Jamil Aziz, digital marketing team lead at Streaming Digitally, wrote to Lifewire in an email. "This small step will have a big impact in the long run."
Disney has acknowledged the inappropriate, racist content in its past films since it first launched the Disney Plus streaming service in November 2019. The company added content warnings that would appear before the launch of specific titles.
