MoCA networks (short for Multimedia over Coax Alliance, the industry organization that manages the standard) are devices that use coaxial cables to send data to and from the Internet.
Explanation: How a MOCA network works
If you’ve ever streamed a TV show through your cable box or used your cable company’s cloud-based DVR to watch something you recorded, you already know how a MoCA network works.
The devices connect your router to your home's coaxial networks. You can then connect a second adapter to a media player directly to another coaxial port or a network extender to the port.
You don't need cable internet; just an internet connection and coaxial cables in your home.
