This article explains what a PDB file is, how to open it, and how to convert it to another format.
Lesson 06, Concept 17: The Contents of a PDB Structure File
A file with the PDB file extension is most likely a program database file used to hold debugging information about a program or module, such as a DLL or EXE file. They are sometimes called symbol files.
The file links various components and statements in the source code to the final compiled product. The debugger can then use this to find the source file and the location in the executable where the debugging process should be stopped.
Some PDB files may instead be in the Protein Data Bank file format. These are plain text files that store coordinates relating to protein structures.
