Since we use Apple TV regularly, we've put together a quick guide explaining what it is and how it works.
Apple TV EXPLAINED – (Apple TV+, Apple TV app, Channels, HomeKit, & AirPlay)
Apple TV isn’t really a television. It’s a streaming device, similar to Roku and Amazon’s Fire TV, that’s used to access streaming content from all of your favorite TV and movie providers.
Essentially, Apple TV turns your television into a “smart” TV. You can rent movies or stream your collection through iTunes, stream movies and TV shows through apps like Netflix and Hulu, stream music through Apple Music and Pandora, listen to podcasts, and even use it to replace your traditional cable TV subscription with services like Sling TV.
The two things you’ll need to set up Apple TV (besides a physical TV) are an HDMI cable (not included) and an internet connection. Apple TV has an Ethernet port for a wired internet connection, and it also supports Wi-Fi. It also comes with a remote control.
