What is AT&T's wireless roaming policy?

HomeHow to, TechWhat is AT&T's wireless roaming policy?

AT&T's wireless network covers most of North America. AT&T coverage is more limited in Mexico, Canada, and rural areas of the U.S. When you venture outside of the network, you may encounter data usage caps or restrictions. After a certain amount of data has been used in an off-network area, you will receive a text message alerting you of the cap.

You may receive a roaming bill, but your calling and texting capabilities will not be blocked.

Customers with an AT&T unlimited plan can call, text, and use their data plan while traveling in Mexico or Canada without incurring roaming charges. Travelers to other countries will incur roaming charges unless they turn off data roaming in their phone's settings or sign up for an AT&T international calling and data plan.

AT&T offers a package called AT&T International Day Pass; $12 per day provides access to data, talk, and text in more than 210 destinations. Cruise packages are also available. AT&T Passport was discontinued in 2021, but subscribers with auto-renewal enabled can keep those benefits. Pricing, data limits, eligible countries, fees, and other benefits vary from plan to plan.
