Nowadays, it is easy to listen to music. But the process of getting music, dialogue and sound effects from a source to your ears is a complicated process involving seemingly magical technologies.
A technology used to deliver sound is a Bitstream (also called Bitstream Audio, Bitstream, Digital Bitstream, or Audio Bitstream).
A bitstream is binary bits of information (1's and 0's) that can be transferred from one device to another. Bitstreams are used in computer, networking, and audio applications.
For audio, a bitstream can convert sound into digital bits, and that information is then carried from a source device to a receiver and ultimately to your ears. PCM and High-Resolution Audio are examples of digital audio formats that use bitstreams.
