Google's Deep Mind Explained! – Self-Learning AI

Google DeepMind’s origins can be traced back to 2010. The company was originally called DeepMind Technologies and was founded in London by Demis Hassabis, Shane Legg and Mustafa Suleyman. The founders wanted to combine machine learning, neuroscience, engineering, mathematics, simulation and computing infrastructure to create innovative deep learning solutions. Their first successes were training their AI models to learn how to play classic games like Atari, Pong and Space Invaders.

Google acquired the company in 2014 and it is now a subsidiary of Alphabet. Since then, Google DeepMind’s AI has been trying to make progressive leaps toward AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) all-purpose tools, a type of AI that exhibits characteristics of human thinking.

In April 2023, Google Brain, Google’s former AI division, merged with Google DeepMind to form a single entity. DeepMind founder Demis Hassabis will lead the new research company.
