Google Photos is one of the best cloud storage services out there. Apple only recently started offering the Memories feature with their Photos application, while Google has been at it for years. There’s a certain fondness and sense of joy that comes with reliving memories safely stored in a reliable cloud storage service. Under a new Google Photos storage policy, a user’s Google Photos storage will be capped at 15GB for all photos they may have backed up since June 1, 2021. So any new photos or videos the user chooses to back up will reduce the amount of available storage on their Google Account. In short, any photos and videos you choose to back up will take up space that was previously free and unlimited.

While this doesn't change the fact that images and videos are backed up regardless of their quality, it does change how much space they take up, as we'll explain in the later section. Images that used to fall into the High-Quality tier are now called Storage Saver.
