HKEY_CURRENT_USER, often abbreviated as HKCU, is one of about six registry hives, an important part of the Windows registry.
It contains configuration information for Windows and software specific to the currently logged on user.
Thus, different registry values in different registry keys under this hive determine user-level settings such as installed printers, desktop wallpaper, display settings, environment variables, keyboard layout, mapped network drives, and more.
