Patch Tuesday is the name given to the day each month that Microsoft releases security and other patches for their operating systems and other software. It is always the second Tuesday of each month and is sometimes called Update Tuesday.

Non-security updates for Microsoft Office are typically released on the first Tuesday of the month, and firmware updates for Microsoft Surface devices are released on the third Tuesday of the month.

Most Windows users will experience a Patch Wednesday sooner, as they will be prompted to install the updates downloaded through Windows Update or notice that these updates are being installed on Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning.
