Screen mirroring technology lets you wirelessly send media playing on your smaller Android, Windows, or Apple device to a larger device, such as a TV or media projector. You can mirror personal photos, music, videos, games, and more, including content from the web or an app like Netflix or YouTube.
In order to use screen mirroring, both devices must meet a few minimum requirements. Your phone or tablet must support mirroring and be able to transmit data. The TV or projector must also support screen mirroring and be able to capture and play that data.
To find out if your phone or tablet supports mirroring, check its documentation or do a web search. Note that you may also need to enable the Miracast or Screen Mirroring feature in Settings, so keep an eye on that as well. You may even be able to mirror your phone's screen to your computer.
When it comes to a television, there are two broad technologies. You can mirror to a newer, smart TV or projector that has built-in screen mirroring, or you can purchase a media streaming device and plug it into an available HDMI port on an older TV. Since the data comes in wirelessly and over your home network, you will need to configure that TV or media stick to connect to that network as well.
