Google Stadia has been out for over a year now, and it’s come a long way since its turbulent early years. The platform once heralded as the standard-bearer for a coming paradigm shift has proven to be a disappointment with many users, who complained of severe input lag and a depressingly empty library so small it doesn’t even have a search bar.

As we discussed in our Stadia review , the cloud gaming platform has made some great improvements and is in a much, much better place than it was at launch. While it is available for free, the Stadia Base version does have several caveats designed to encourage the $10-a-month Stadia Pro subscription.

Stadia is kind of like the Netflix of games. Sort of. In that users can stream a game while they’re playing it. That means no downloads, no updates, and — most importantly — absolutely maxed-out graphical settings that can be played on any machine that can run Chrome.
