Astro Bot, a bold sequel to an adventure set in the expansive Sony universe, looks like a fantastic and fun title. After being announced on May 30th during Sony State of Play, many are wondering when it will actually hit PlayStation stores.

Players will delve deep into Sony’s multiverse when Astro Bot launches on Friday, September 6, the company confirmed during its May State of Play event. Pre-orders are closed at the time of writing, but are expected to begin on June 7. This September, you’ll be able to drive a PlayStation 5, battle giant versions of all of Sony’s iconic game characters, and traverse some of the company’s most interesting and diverse worlds.

Astro Bot is an adventure title with puzzles, boss fights, exploration, and apparently much more. The gameplay revolves around the many unique and iconic worlds and characters created by Sony's first-party studios over the past few decades, including several highly recognizable gaming legends.

This release will mark the third game in the Astro Bot franchise. The first, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, was developed for Sony's VR, while the second, Astro's Playroom, was actually a released tech demo for Sony's new DualSense controllers.
