There are plenty of weapons in The First Descendant, but unlike other similar looter-shooters, you actually have XP for every weapon in the game. It’s called Weapon Proficiency, and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it.
Weapon Proficiency FULLY Explained | The First Descendant Beginner's Guide
In The First Descendant, a weapon's Proficiency represents its level. Each weapon has its own Proficiency level, shared by all of your Descendants. You can check the weapon's Proficiency level by hovering over it in the inventory.
Weapon proficiency becomes important in the endgame of The First Descendant. In order to use a Crystallization Catalyst on a weapon, you must reach Proficiency level 40, which is the maximum level. After using the Crystallization Catalyst, the Proficiency level is reset to one, and you must bring it back up.
To optimize your endgame loadouts, be prepared to reset weapons multiple times. Using Crystallization Catalysts reduces Module capacity costs and is the only way to power up weapons in Hard mode.
