When you watch your favorite program or movie on a TV or video projector, you see what appears to be a series of complete images, like a photo or movie. But appearances can be deceiving.
AMD Simplified: Pixels and Resolution
If you look at a television or projector screen with your eyes closed, you will see that it consists of small dots placed in horizontal and vertical rows across the screen surface.
The dots on the screen of a television, video projection screen, PC monitor, laptop or even tablet and smartphone screen are called pixels.
A pixel is defined as an image element. Each pixel contains red, green, and blue color information (called subpixels). The following illustration shows a close-up of subpixels.
