Last week, Apple announced the new changes after reaching a $100 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit from US app developers. While these changes are mainly seen on the developer side, App Store users should be more aware of their apps and what they are being charged for in the future.
“As Apple opens its doors more to developers who want to raise their price points, consumers should be careful about how much a given app wants them to spend once they use it,” Bill Mann, privacy expert at Restore Privacy, wrote in an email to Lifewire.
Apple’s App Store has been in trouble for years, with apps and companies claiming the store’s policies are too restrictive and monopolizing. The tech giant has even gotten into trouble with the federal government over antitrust concerns.
