Google Assistant is a virtual assistant that can search the web, make appointments, and send text messages, among other things. If your Google Assistant isn’t sending text messages as indicated, there’s probably a problem with your contacts or the Google app. Here, we’ll help you fix the problem.
To isolate the problem, start by figuring out if your device's voice commands are working properly. Try using Google Assistant to issue a simple voice command on the web. If Google can't complete this task, you know the problem isn't limited to texting.
If other Google Assistant voice commands work fine and the issue seems to be limited to text messages, then it's likely due to an error in your contacts. Another possible culprit is incorrect permissions settings in the Google app.
Open the Contacts app and check your contact numbers for errors. Extra spaces, brackets, periods, and commas can cause calls and texts to not be forwarded.
