iPadOS 15 could either be the biggest change to the iPad in years—or its biggest disappointment.
iPadOS 15 Walkthrough: EVERYTHING You Need to Know!
During Monday’s WWDC keynote, Apple will detail upcoming software updates, the most interesting of which could be iPadOS 15. Why? For starters, the iPad missed out on some big changes in last year’s iOS 14, like Home screen widgets. But more importantly, the iPad’s incredible hardware is being held back by its software. Even the 2018 iPad Pro has more power than most people need, and yet its operating system still lacks basic functionality.
Last year, iOS 14 got home screen widgets. You probably use them on your iPhone. The iPad, which is probably better suited to big widgets on the home screen, got a version that only let you add widgets to the sidebar.
But the entire iPad home screen needs an overhaul. The app icon grid is a waste of your iPad’s most precious real estate. Imagine if Apple could somehow bring the power and convenience of the Mac desktop and windows to the iPad. In fact, don’t even imagine that. Designer Vidit Bhargava has already done it for you, with his menu bar and multitasking concept for iPadOS.
