Apple has set the date for this year's WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference), and we're expecting some exciting news for iOS 18 and the Mac.
Apple WWDC 2024: Everything revealed in 12 minutes
WWDC kicks off this year on June 10, kicking off with a special event at Apple Park. As in years past, the rest of the conference will be online, with online sessions, YouTube videos, and more. But what we’re interested in are the announcements. WWDC is where Apple lays out its plan for fall releases of iOS and macOS, iPadOS, and more, and this year, maybe visionOS. And then there’s always the possibility of new hardware. Let’s get started.
“As someone who works in tech and owns every Apple device possible, I hope Apple comes out with a better version of Siri (AI, anyone?) and VisionOS 2 with Spatial Personas. And in a dream world, I’d love it if they opened [the app ecosystem] up to AI developers,” software developer, author, and entrepreneur Stephen Flanders told Lifewire via email.
Of all the anticipated WWDC announcements, iOS 18 is the one we know the most about—that is, the one most leaked about. It’s the biggest design shakeup since iOS 7, which ditched the faux leather and drop shadows for a hyper-modern, flat, colorful look that eventually calmed down and morphed into what we see on our iPhones today. We’re already expecting redesigned home screens, for example.
