WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has released new updates to its video conferencing feature, including screen sharing, more participants, and a speaker spotlight.
How to Share Your Screen During Video Calls on WhatsApp (2023)
Screen sharing includes audio, which the company notes makes it great for watching videos with your friends. You can also now have up to 32 people on a video call, so those massive party-planning sessions can go off without a hitch.
And if you have large chats with multiple people, WhatsApp can indicate who is speaking, making it easier to follow the action without having to search for that one little square on the screen to figure out what’s going on.
All of these features already exist on other platforms like Zoom and Hangouts, so it makes sense that WhatsApp would want to bring them to its own video chat system. Most of us spend our days (and nights) communicating remotely with a variety of people, from coworkers to party buddies, so improving the systems we use just makes good sense.
