It’s hard to believe that Apex Legends is five and a half years old. In those five years, players have been treated to a variety of modes that expand on core battle royale principles in new and interesting ways, from the ring flares of the Chaos Theory event to the self-heal zones of Flashpoint during the Aftermarket event.

One limited-time mode that players will want to return to again and again is Solos. True to its name, Solos lets Apex players take on the game’s battle royale single-handedly. The appeal is immediately apparent: no pesky teammates to suck up your ammo, and no teammates that will leave the match once they’re downed, meaning fewer distractions on your way to the top.

Solos has been absent from Apex for some time now, leaving many players wondering if the mode will ever make a successful return.

Respawn has finally announced the return of Apex Solo mode, coinciding with the launch of the game's next season, Upheaval. The gameplay trailer is set to drop on Friday, May 3. Players also get a glimpse at the next Legend joining the game's ever-expanding roster, along with new lands to explore.
