Canada has joined many other countries with 5G coverage. While rapid rollout depends on a number of factors, including the company providing the network, we know of a few that have live 5G service.

5G brings vastly faster speeds than 4G, so you can access the internet faster. Faster internet access improves a number of sectors, letting you do things like download files faster and watch movies and play video games with virtually no lag.

There are multiple 5G networks available for use right now that customers can buy and use like they can buy 4G. Others are actively working on bringing test networks to the country and preparing for a commercial mobile 5G launch.

Telus began rolling out the network in Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto in June 2020, with additional cities added later.
