While you won’t see a camera lens on the front or back of your Nintendo Switch console, the Joycon controllers have two. Each motion controller has an infrared (IR) camera on the bottom. It doesn’t look like a camera; there’s no traditional lens. If you look closely, you’ll see the black spots on the bottom.

These cameras weren't used much when the Switch first came out, but Nintendo's Cardboard Labo kits have made the camera and its capabilities more apparent.
The way an infrared sensor camera works is by shooting invisible dots that are then mapped to whatever it hits. It’s not far removed from the way sonar works. This allows the Joycon controllers to ‘see’ objects and movements to use it as an input method.
The image detection is probably a lot better than you would expect. The IR sensor can also detect a heatmap. But it's not high quality or a very good camera. You also can't currently access the camera portion of the IR camera without a Labo kit, and even then it doesn't function as a traditional camera. You can't point your Joycon at something and take a picture.
