With the introduction of the Apple Watch Ultra, Series 8, and the new Watch SE, Apple added a new Waypoints feature to the Compass app. This feature allows users to mark a location or point of interest on the map. When exploring a new area, you can use Compass Waypoints to retrace your steps as you go and know how far you are from your destination.
Apple Watch – Using Waypoints and Backtrack!
If you're wondering which Apple Watch gets this new Waypoint feature, read more about it in the following post.
Compass Waypoints is a new feature available in the redesigned Compass app that’s accessible in watchOS 9. All of Apple’s latest Watch devices run watchOS 9, including the Apple Watch Ultra, Watch Series 8, and the new Watch SE. You can drop a waypoint in the Compass app using the Compass Waypoint icon on all of these watches, but only the Apple Watch Ultra has an additional Action button that lets you drop a waypoint directly.
Yes. Because the Watch Series 8, like the Watch Ultra and Watch SE, runs the new watchOS 9 operating system out of the box, you can use the Waypoint feature in the Compass app right out of the box. Waypoints can be viewed and deleted when using any of these modes: analog view, digital view, or hybrid view.
