The release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD on Xbox Live Arcade in 2015 sparked a renewed interest in playing the classic THPS games. If you have an Xbox 360, it's worth checking out all the older Xbox versions of Tony Hawk's games for backwards compatibility.
WHY ARE TONY HAWK GAMES NOT BACKWARD COMPATIBLE?
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x plays well on Xbox 360, but there are frequent one to three second pauses when navigating menus. You may also encounter the rare brief pause of a few seconds during gameplay. The game is a fun game and worth picking up for your Xbox 360, especially if you weren't satisfied with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD.
THPS 3 requires your Xbox 360 to be set to 480p mode; any other resolution will result in the game freezing on the white Xbox logo. Once you switch to the correct resolution, it plays flawlessly and is probably the best performing of the three Tony Hawk's Pro Skater titles on Xbox 360.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 has some graphical glitches and occasional frame rate issues, but nothing that seriously affects gameplay. It's still playable.
