2020 was predicted to be the year 5G would finally take off, but experts say the improvements and speeds we were hoping for have yet to materialize.
5G Disappointing
With promises to bridge the digital divide, deliver faster download and upload speeds for improved web browsing and in-app experiences, and increase speeds in communications between mobile networks, 5G seemed to be the future.
It’s been relatively disappointing so far. Many of us are disappointed with the 5G rollout, but we need to be patient with the overhaul that’s needed to build these 5G networks.
“The disappointment with current 5G speeds has a lot to do with the fact that the hype around 5G doesn’t reflect the reality of what it takes to actually build these networks,” Peter Holslin, editor at HighSpeedInternet.com, wrote in an email to Lifewire.
