The desktop laptop is more common, more useful and more attainable than ever. All you need is the right dock.
Everything you need to know about Thunderbolt 3
With more people working from home or splitting their time between home and office, a laptop is indispensable. But it’s a nightmare economically, especially if you’re using it on your lap. The answer is the desktop laptop, a laptop that you can connect to peripherals like a Transformer to become more powerful, more useful, and more convenient.
"I use a Thunderbolt dock to keep my setup organized. Before, it felt like my desk was drowning in a sea of cables. Now everything is neatly organized because the dock gives me a central location to plug in my cables and keep them out of the way," IT sales manager and Thunderbolt dock enthusiast Shawn Gonzales told Lifewire via email.
There are a number of ways to connect your laptop to a monitor, keyboard and mouse/trackpad/trackball, speakers, and whatever other peripherals you need. The most common is probably some sort of dock. USB-C docks are okay, but often unreliable, especially if you use them for an Ethernet network connection.
