Another week, another gang of crooks robbing an Apple Store, this time in Santa Rosa, California. Good luck selling that loot!
iPhone THEFT or LOST? 🔥 Don't make this BIG mistake!
Apple Stores are surprisingly open, inviting, and easy to use. You can walk in and try things out at any time, without having to ask a surly clerk to fetch the lone demo unit from a locked display case. But that same open floor plan can also be seen as a low-security location, where high-quality, easy-to-grab merchandise just sits on tables, ready to be grabbed and run.
The problem is that most of these devices are rendered useless if stolen.
"Apple leaves their expensive gear out of the equation because the chances of someone successfully stealing it are so slim. The security measures they have in place are so strong, and several of those measures are very visible (security guards, CCTV, and a constant high volume of employees working)," Kyle MacDonald, COO at GPS fleet tracking company Force by Mojio, told Lifewire via email.
