Why doesn't my iPad keyboard make a clicking sound?

HomeHow to, TechWhy doesn't my iPad keyboard make a clicking sound?

Is your iPad keyboard silent? By default, the iPad’s on-screen keyboard makes a clicking noise every time you press a key. This noise isn’t just there to make it feel like you’re typing on a real keyboard. If you try to type quickly, audio feedback lets you know that you actually pressed the key. If your iPad keyboard is silent, here’s what you can do to fix it.

If you’ve been searching through your iPad’s keyboard settings for a way to turn this sound back on, you’ve come to the wrong place. Apple has decided to put this particular setting in the Sounds category, even though it would make more sense if it were in the Keyboard settings.

Go to your iPad's settings by opening the Settings app. (Look for the gear icon.)

Tap Sounds in the menu on the left side of the screen.
