Wearing earplugs for sleeping is not only intended to block out noise from neighbors.
Earplugs that help you sleep like a baby
Sleepbuds are a new pair of earbuds for bedtime from Ozlo, a company founded by three ex-Bose employees. These Sleepbuds are a more advanced version of a product that was twice discontinued by Bose. Earbuds that are made for sleeping require very different functions than earbuds that are used for waking. While they may seem redundant, you might be surprised at how useful a set of bedphones (yes, bedphones) can be.
“People experience all sorts of challenges that affect the timing of their sleep onset and the quality of their sleep. Many of these challenges are caused by factors such as ambient noise or too much silence, which is exactly where these types of earplugs can help,” Dr. Rosmy Barrios, MD, medical advisor for the Health Reporter, told Lifewire via email.
While you can wear your AirPods to bed, and they do a decent job of muffling your neighbor’s late-night rooftop soiree, they’re not really built for that task. In fact, they fail at the first task: sleeping on your side. They get wedged into your ear hole, which is both uncomfortable and can interfere with the fit in your ears, which is essential for effective noise cancellation, whether active or passive.
