Recent changes to AT&T's fiber internet plans are a step in the right direction, but they ultimately don't solve the real problem with fiber: availability.

AT&T recently announced changes to its fiber internet plans, offering faster download and upload speeds on two of its plans. The change brings the company’s cheapest fiber plan to 300 Mbps, an increase of 200 Mbps from the original speeds.
That's certainly no small improvement, but it doesn't address the fact that two-thirds of AT&T's customer base still doesn't have access to fiber.
“Fiber offers the fastest and most reliable internet you can get, so if you can get such a good deal, that's great,” Peter Holsin, internet expert at HighSpeedInternet, told us in an email.
