There’s a strange sound coming from my wallet these days. It’s my credit card whining about my growing desire to buy Apple’s rumored $3,000 virtual reality headset.
My initial reaction to the price of the Apple Vision Pro
These are strange times for Apple to be making a big move into VR. While the headset is still just a hint at this point, the sky-high price tag is about 10 times more than my very nice Oculus Quest 2. Surely the company has to know that there is a global recession going on?
Still, I'm ashamed to admit that the thought of Apple's headset makes me drool like a robot dog plagued by electronic cookies. It's Facebook's fault.
I had written off VR as a gimmick when I tried the Oculus Go. It was fun, but slow and blurry. Now that I have the Oculus Quest 2, I’m hooked on the better screens and faster processor. It’s not the future, but it’s so close I can almost taste it.
