The Amazon Echo line of smart speakers relies heavily on Alexa to give you feedback, but the light ring on the top of the device also tells you a lot about what’s going on with your Echo. If you see your Alexa blinking green or your smart speaker has a blinking green light, it’s part of the Amazon Echo’s notification system.

Don’t worry, the notification is rarely about something wrong with your Echo. The different colors on the top of your Amazon Echo alert you to things like unread messages or incoming calls. These notifications let you know the status of your Echo with a simple glance.
Blue is the most common color for the light ring and it simply means that your Amazon Echo device is actively listening to you. This is very useful for ensuring that Alexa can clearly hear what you are saying.
If she has trouble hearing you, try saying one of the wake words — “Alexa,” “Amazon,” “Computer,” “Echo,” or “Ziggy” — in a louder voice than normal and wait a moment or two for the blue rings to appear before continuing the command.
