A tech website is challenging people to go offline for 24 hours with a $2,400 prize. It may seem like an easy buck. But with the growing amount of time being spent streaming, gaming, and video chatting, staying away from tech may be harder than you think.
“Websites, social media and smartphones are designed to engage us and keep us coming back for more, even if we don't consciously do so,” said Robert Glazer, CEO of marketing agency Acceleration Partners, in an email interview.
"The ease of use and the social validation we receive leads us to quickly check Twitter or our work email, which can be hours of activity because there's always something else to grab our attention once we're online."
