Why the iPhone has three cameras
According to reliable Apple rumormonger Mark Gurman, the iPhone 13 will bring Apple's excellent background-blurring Portrait mode to video. It will also add a new high-quality recording format called ProRes, along with a new system of color-enhancing filters for both photos and video. It'll be a significant upgrade to the iPhone's already impressive video camera, but will pros want a gimmicky Portrait mode?
“I think, as with most software advancements in the history of filmmaking, we’re going to see a lot of purists turn their noses up and say dismissively that a feature like Portrait Mode coming to video on iPhones isn’t going to make much of a difference,” TikTok design director Ishaan Mishra told Lifewire via email.
“I think the opposite is true. As computational photography improves and algorithms and software get better at bridging the gap between analog and digital, we will see increased usage.”
