As a Nintendo Switch owner and enthusiast, I wonder: why should I have to choose between the Switch and the Steam Deck instead of buying both?
Why Every Nintendo Switch Owner NEEDS a Steam Deck!
Talk of Valve's Steam Deck being a "Switch killer" started almost immediately after it was revealed, which I get. People contextualize new ideas by comparing them to what they already know, and handheld/big screen hybrids are rare. But there's no reason why two video game consoles can't exist (or even thrive) simultaneously.
Yes, I love my Switch and will continue to do so. I may also make room for a Steam Deck. Both systems may seem similar at first glance, but when you look a little deeper, they are also different.
Game console comparisons usually start with hardware specs, and there’s no denying that the Steam Deck is more powerful. It has a faster processor than the Switch, more RAM, and starts with twice the internal storage (64GB vs. 32GB). And because the Steam Deck is functionally a computer, we can tweak its performance and display options to our liking.
