Valve has a spotty history with making and releasing its own hardware. I wrote about this extensively back in May, when rumors of the Steam Deck first started circulating. I wasn’t the only one who thought Valve might be biting off more than it could chew.
Experts shared their opinions on the handheld rumors and we agreed that Valve would probably be better off sticking to what it does best: running Steam and never releasing a third game in a series.
But now, a few months after those initial rumors and with the official reveal of Valve's portable handheld gaming console, I might be willing to change my mind.
