According to experts, Xiaomi's latest smartphone concept looks nice, but ultimately lacks the familiarity and usability we've come to expect.

Xiaomi has unveiled its first quad-curved waterfall display. The new smartphone concept features an 88-degree curved display that Xiaomi says allows visual interfaces to flow naturally over it, like water. Unlike previous phones with a curved display, Xiaomi’s unnamed concept doesn’t feature any ports or physical buttons. Instead, the entire device is made up of this new display.
“It’s pretty nice from a purely visual standpoint,” Andreas Johansson, a UX specialist, told Lifewire via email. “But in terms of usability, I see a few things that could be a problem.”
In a world where we’ve only seen phones that can fold into themselves, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and the Microsoft Surface Duo, the idea of a portless phone doesn’t seem that far-fetched, especially with wireless chargers becoming increasingly popular. We also recently saw Xiaomi debut its Mi Air Charge Technology, which allows you to charge your phone over the air, so a smartphone making use of the tech isn’t all that surprising.
