Windows 11 testers are encountering a new bug that causes the Windows Security application to stop working.
[SOLVED] Microsoft Windows Defender Windows Security not working in latest version of Windows 11/10
Windows 11 is currently available as part of Microsoft's early access Windows Insider Program. As with any early access release, some users have encountered bugs and other issues along the way. The latest issue appears to be affecting the Windows Security application. According to Windows Latest, the bug is noticeable in Windows 11 Build 22000.160 or older, and prevents the app from opening when you select it in Windows Settings.
Multiple users have reported the issue, which appears to crop up when users try to select options in the Windows Security section of the Privacy & Security menu. The error message reads, "You'll need a new app to open this WindowsDefender link," and then prompts users to search for an app in the Microsoft Store.
This bug essentially prevents users from using Windows Defender, which is the built-in antivirus program for Windows.
